A Streamline-Guided Dehomogenization Approach for Structural Design

Abstract We present a novel dehomogenization approach for the efficient design of high-resolution load-bearing structures. The proposed builds upon streamline-based parametrization domain, using set space-filling and evenly spaced streamlines in two mutually orthogonal direction fields that are obtained from homogenization-based topology optimization. Streamlines these converted into graph, which is then used to construct quad-dominant mesh whose edges follow fields. In addition, edge width adjusted according density anisotropy optimized orthotropic cells. number numerical examples, we demonstrate mechanical performance regular appearance resulting structural designs compare them with those classic contemporary approaches.
